Our Story

NEW YEARS.

A lot can happen in a year — and even more can happen in five! A little while back, we started the annual tradition of sitting down together at the end of every year to go through any photos we’ve taken — to retrace, to remember, to re-inspire. So, it was fitting that our “will you marry me?” moment came on the New Year’s Eve of 2014 / 2015 while we were in New York City, having a conversation about all of that time gone by and, really, trying to take stock of what it all meant. As seems to be the way with time, it can all somehow feel like a day and a few lifetimes all at once—we’ve become partners in all things, criss-crossed the country a few times playing songs together in over forty states, become family with each other’s families, and become part of our own friend-family that stretches from coast to coast, gifting us a friendly face almost anywhere we could ever go. In that way, you all are as much a part of our story as anything could ever be, and we are beyond thankful to have you to celebrate with on this day.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV.

What you may not know, is that many years before we ever started building a life together, this guy from Staten Island, NY, and this girl from Charleston, WV, met almost exactly somewhere in-between, just outside of DC, in the beautiful little town of Shepherdstown, WV (the oldest town in the state) at the, then, Mountain Stage Newsong Festival. So, we thought we’d take you back to that exact origin point, on that exact summer weekend in August, and let it be a place where all of our paths can cross, even if just this once, altogether.
